Dear 2018 SDGA Junior Tour Members,

Thank you for joining our Junior Tour, we are excited to get the 2018 Junior Tour started!

As we prepare for the upcoming season we would like to touch on some of our policies and procedures to ensure that we have another great year.

SDGA Junior Tour Withdrawal Policy: We realize things happen. Players sometimes have to miss events due to unforeseen circumstances. However, to ensure that all players get to play in the majority of the events they choose, please notify either the SDGA office, or an SDGA Staff member 7 days prior to the missed event. Failure to notify may result in the removal from future Junior Tour events. Per our policy, upon your first no-call/no-show, you will be notified via email that the player was not at the event. Additional infractions may result in the player’s remaining tournaments being removed from the schedule until confirmed via email or a phone call to SDGA staff. If any of the events are at full capacity, the player involved will be placed on the waiting list until a spot in their division opens up. A 7-day notice is expected, when possible. Any subsequent offense will result in the player being removed from the remaining schedule.

    • Please call (605) 740-7085regarding any player questions or concerns.

Tee Times:  SDGA recommends that players arrive 1 hour prior to shotgun events. For scheduled tee times, players must be at their scheduled tee 15 minutes prior to teeing off. Announcements will be made 15 minutes prior to a shotgun start. For tee time events, players will be given all their necessary information at their designated starting area.

Dress Code: At all Junior Tour events, we require that all players dress in a respectful and proper manner. Proper attire includes collared shirts, slacks, shorts, golf or tennis shoes, caps and visors. Prohibited attire includes denim, short shorts, cut-offs, sandals, clothing containing offensive slogans, language or pictures, clothing describing or advertising alcohol, tobacco, or other drug references. Players that fail to abide by these rules will be subject to a verbal warning. Further infractions will result in disqualification from that event. It is our goal to ensure that all players represent themselves in a positive manner.

Health and Wellness: SDGA staff encourages all players to adequately prepare themselves for upcoming events. We recommend that players are equipped with snacks (i.e. granola bars, crackers, fruit, etc.) as well as a refillable water bottle for each golf tournament. SDGA staff will work closely with each host facility to ensure that water coolers remain full throughout the day. It is also suggested that players wear sunscreen and hats to avoid overexposure to the sun. Water and snacks will be available for purchase at the clubhouse.

10 Shot Rule: In the interest of pace of play at our events, once a player reaches a score of 10 on a hole (strokes + penalty strokes), they are required to pick up their ball and walk along with their group (as a marker/scorer) until the group reaches the next tee. Please record a score of “10” on your scorecard.

At the Turn: Players are allowed a MAXIMUM of 5 minutes from the time your group finishes Hole 9, Hole 18, or any hole that passes near the clubhouse or a snack shop area, etc. A group, or player, in breach of this rule will result in a verbal warning. Failure to keep pace of play after verbal warning will result in a 1 stroke penalty.

Scorecards: It is imperative to make sure that a player’s hole by hole score is accurate. At the end of a round it is required that 2 signatures are present to verify that scores are correct. SDGA staff request that all players head to the scoring table with their group. SDGA staff will go over the scores with the players one last time before accepting the scorecards as official scores.

Integrity: Golf is a sport of integrity. If any player is found to be dishonest during their round, they are subject to disciplinary action which may result in disqualification or the removal from Junior Tour events. Any act of dishonesty will be subject to penalty at the discretion of SDGA staff on site.

Parental Involvement:Parents, we encourage you to be spectators, and to assist SDGA Staff with pace of play, as well as help to look for lost golf balls within your group. However, parents, or other spectators are not permitted to give any advice that could influence a player in club selection, method of making a stroke, or any information that is not public golf knowledge. We ask that spectators stay a minimum of 5 yards behind players, or far enough ahead of the group to safely assist when helping a player find a golf ball.

  • If players or spectators are unsure of a ruling, please contact the clubhouse and an SDGA staff member will verify the ruling.

Weather Policy: South Dakota weather can be pretty unpredictable. Our number one priority is safety for all players and spectators. If weather is deemed to be dangerous, play may be canceled or delayed. The SDGA reserves the right to cancel or delay a tournament due to inclement weather or unplayable course conditions. If the weather does not subside during the suspension of play, SDGA staff will work closely with the host facility to determine whether to continue or cancel the tournament.
